How do real-world educational institutions incorporate Futures Thinking into their practices?

Should it be a formal addition to the K-12 curriculum?

We had the privilege of interviewing Brad Snell, the Director of Learning & Teaching at Wilderness School, an independent institution for girls based in Adelaide, Australia. 

As a key member of the school’s leadership team, Brad shared with us the process of introducing a new elective course on Futures Thinking for Year 10 students. This initiative reflects a proactive approach to equipping students for the future.

It provides them with opportunities to explore potential scenarios, nurture critical thinking skills, and adapt effectively to our ever-evolving world. The outcomes and effectiveness of such programs offer valuable insights into the potential inclusion of Futures Thinking within the formal K-12 curriculum.

Benjamin shares insights into the importance of fostering a forward-thinking mindset among tertiary students and discusses strategies for integrating Futures Thinking with other disciplines like Design Thinking and Systems Thinking. These integrated approaches aim to equip students more effectively for the challenges of the future.
