When might system collapse be something we want?

Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) is a virus which can cause cancers, especially cervical cancer.

It wasn’t always known, as the cancers tend to develop years after any infection.

Australia introduced a free vaccine against HPV for those aged 12-25 in 2007

In the years since, the rates of cervical cancer have been shown to be in decline, and as time goes on the effect is only expected to increase.

This system, where an apparently unrelated virus was actually causing cancer in humans, is one we are beginning to collapse. The relationship between the virus and humans (infection) and the relationship between the virus and cancer (one causing the other) are being broken. This is also breaking the relationship between the humans and the cancer, as they were only connected through the virus.

System collapse achieved; lives saved.
