Strengthen your Pathway

The Teaching Futures Pathway is your opportunity to pursue a Master of Teaching or complete your final two years of a Bachelor of Education (Primary or Secondary) (full-time) while gaining hands-on, workplace-based learning experiences with support from local leading teachers and academics.

With strong support systems – including financial assistance, a Pathway Professional Learning Program, and collaboration in a professional learning community – this program is designed to develop the next generation of exceptional, innovative teachers.

By working closely with an experienced teacher-mentor, and lead teachers, you will grow as a confident, capable and connected professional and bridge the gap between the ‘graduate’ and ‘proficient’ teacher registration.

Your Teaching Journey

The Teaching Futures Pathway provides your entry into teaching by partnering with schools, allowing you to work in a paid role while you learn. You will combine teaching theory with real-world classroom experience in a supportive school environment, accelerating your growth to becoming an exceptional teacher.

When you join us as a Professional Associate, you will study a Master of Teaching (Primary or Secondary) or the final two years of a Bachelor of Education degree (Primary or Secondary) at a South Australian initial teacher education (ITE) provider* while working in a paid role at a partnering school from day one.

Throughout the program, you will participate in a Pathway Professional Learning Program. This program prepares you to become a future leader through hands-on learning at your school, where you will be an active participant, not just a learner.

The Teaching Futures pathway is designed to prepare you to thrive in complex school environments. You’ll be supported in face-to-face Learning Labs and via online modules to develop skills in areas such as:

  • maintaining your own well-being
  • culturally informed and responsive pedagogies
  • integrating digital technologies
  • designing positive and effective classroom environments

You will work within a professional learning community to design, implement, and evaluate evidence-based teaching strategies.

This vibrant community of practice will foster collaboration, shared expertise, and ongoing professional growth and create space for Associates to reflect, design, experiment, and problem-solve alongside peers, mentors, local pathway leaders and academics.

Associates will benefit from working in geographically clustered school sites, to further support local learning with peers and lead teachers.

By working together across diverse school settings, Associates develop adaptive, evidence-informed teaching practices aligned with real-world classroom needs. This collaborative model accelerates learning, reduces isolation, and builds a strong foundation for long-term impact in schools.
