Three ways to think about quantity and the development of early number sense.

Consider the following contexts/ activities in which children may be exhibiting a range of mathematical ideas, strategies and understandings. Identify what types of quantitative understandings the task/ experience might promote or explore.

Arranging an equal number of flowers in each vase

Making muffins – following a recipe, increasing or reducing quantities as required
