I am a passionate science educator and taught in South Australian schools for 17 years, followed by over a decade working in outreach education through the University. Our Outreach Programs are designed to engage primary and secondary students in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), through programs ranging from one-day activities to year-long programs linked to their school curriculum.

Part of my role is to lead the STEM Innovation Experience (STEMIE), a nation-wide STEM based competition for high school students. I also develop and coordinate Outreach Programs including STEM Day Out, Engineering Day, Clinical Biology and other STEM programs held at the Whyalla, Mount Gambier and Mawson Lakes campuses.

My teaching has been recognised through several awards, including the 2009 School Science Educator of the Year- SA Science Excellence Awards, 2011 Eureka Prize for Science and Mathematics Teaching, and the 2012 Prime Minister’s Prize for Science Teaching Secondary. The Outreach STEMpire team were finalists in the Science Excellence Awards STEM Educator of the Year in 2025.

If you have any questions about our programs or would like to get your students involved feel free to contact me.
