Inputs and Outputs

So, what are inputs and outputs?

Within the Arduino realm, an input is a device, or sensor, or pin that is ready to receive a stimulus or signal for processing by the Arduino microcontroller.

On the other hand, an output is a device, or sensor, or pin that will do something when it receives a signal from the Arduino microcontroller.

Investigate the following devices, and categorise them as either an input or an output.

Vibration motor

LED or Light Emitting Diode

Servo Motor (A motor that can turn to a certain position)

Pushbutton Switch

Slide switch

Temperature sensor

Magnetic switch

Rotary angle sensor/ Potentiometer (eg. volume dial)

Touch sensor

Sound sensor

Light sensor (LDR)

Buzzer
